Dodgers Pull-Out of Proposed Three-Way
Okay maybe that wasn't the best headline for the situation. Nevertheless, the Dodgers postponed ruining the franchise's chance to win as of right now by holding on to SHAWN GREEN, BRAD PENNY, YHENCY BREZOBAN and KAZ ISHII. It looks like owner FRANK MCCOURT will have to find another clever way to dump salary someplace else.
It has been reported that the Dodgers have signed free-agent outfielder JD DREW to a 5-year 55 million dollar deal. Drew is a very good player but has had injury problems. Why not throw that money at ADRIAN BELTRE instead of JD Drew? I don't understand it. Beltre is a better player playing at a position where there really isn't that much depth in baseball at the moment. What's easier: finding a solid third baseman that can swing it or a corner outfielder? Beltre is coming into his prime and had a tremendous 2004. Drew is a little older and had a good year, but I still would rather have Adrian Beltre.
