PRIOR DENIES STEROID USE
Jack McDowell's accusation that pitcher Mark Prior has used steroids finally got back to the Chicago Cubs' star. Referring to the injury and the amount of recovery time Prior has needed, McDowell said this:
"That's one of the telltale things. What happens with steroids is the muscles get too strong for the tendons,"
Prior responded by saying, "Do I look like I'm on steroids? That's the first I heard. Was he serious? I guess the best thing I can say is obviously I'm not; I don't know why he would say that.".
The steroid accusations are getting ridiculous. First, Andy Van Slyke called out Barry Bonds and then Julio Franco, now Jack McDowell calls out Mark Prior. All of these public accusations based on circumstantial evidence are uncalled for. The only way baseball can rid the sport of these is to get a more strict testing policy...But who knows if the MLBPA will agree to that.
