BREWERS TAKE 3 OF 4 FROM ST. LOUIS
The Milwaukee Brewers had a very successful opening series against the Cardinals. Today the Brewers pounded the Cardinals 11-5. Brady Clark and Keith Ginter each got their first starts of the season and capitalized on the opportunity. Clark homered in his first two at-bats and finished 2-3 with a career high 4 RBI and a walk. Ginter had a perfect day, going 2-2 with a HR, 2B, 2 BB and was HBP. Chris Capuano, making his first start with the Crew, got the win going 6 innings and allowing 4 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits, 5 K and 3 BB while allowing 2 HR.

For St. Louis Albert Pujols hit his first two homeruns of the season. Mike Matheny cooled down the "amazing Brewer-killer" talk for at least one day while only going 1-4. Matheny hit .462 in the series. Cody McKay, the backup catcher, threw 2 scoreless innings for the Cardinals after coming on as a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the seventh. He was the only guy the Brewers didn't hammer this afternoon.

The Brewers have the lowest payroll in baseball but definitely won't be the worst team in baseball (probably far from it). It goes to show that it's not always money but what you do with what you have. The Brewers cut more than 10 million off of their payroll from last season and have a much deeper team.

Milwaukee now travels home to Miller Park to welcome division rival Houston, who is currently 1-2. I'll have a series preview either tonight or tomorrow, but for now, let all the Brewers fans enjoy this...
